Renewable Energy Feasibility Studies (REFS)
Many planning authorities now require a planning application to include a comprehensive Renewable Energy Feasibility Statement for a development.
We offer Renewable Energy Feasibility Studies to discharge the Planning requirements of Local Authorities and meet the requirements of BREEAM or Code for Sustainable Homes. Our Statements balance environmentally sound proposals with commercial viability.
We have many years experience in producing REFS and have worked with many Local Authorities throughout the UK including the Greater London Authority.
Due to the lack of a nationwide policy, feasibility studies will vary between Local Authorities. Many Local Authorities will require a reduction in Energy and many will require a reduction in Carbon. Different Local Authorities will also ask for different reductions, some will require a 10% reduction, whereas others may require a 20% reduction or more using renewable energy.
How can we help?
We will liaise with the Local Authority to determine the Planning requirements and work with you to develop an energy strategy to meet the requirements in the most cost effective way. The results will be presented in a professional report format that can be submitted to the Local Authority to discharge the Planning requirements and Local Policies. The report will consider various renewable technologies and recommend the most cost effective technology for your particular development. A well prepared and professional REFS can play a significant role in achieving planning consent.
We have worked on many different developments that have incorporated LZCT/ renewable energy sources including:
- Photovoltaic
- Solar Thermal
- Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP)
- Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP)
- Wind Turbines
- Hydro
- Combined Heat and Power (CHP)
- Biomass
We incorporate robust analysis and evaluation of renewable technologies such as solar panels, wind turbines, heat pumps and biomass boilers into the REFS.
As we are also experienced Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM Assessors we can also incorporate these requirements into our REFS if required.
